Each and every volunteer firefighter plays a key role in serving the Athens community by providing fire rescue skills.
With the sacrifices of our fire department members and their families, we benefit daily, by the improved fire safe environment they offer us.
With that, we all realize and appreciate that it takes a special kind of individual to be a firefighter.
Just as a medical doctor studies for years to apply their life saving skills, a firefighter will become expert at specialized life and fire saving techniques.
In a way, they participate in a “Fire Academy” by studying in-depth methods and by constantly practicing their skills at periodic events.
Past and present, dedication and team spirit are an obvious component with the Athens Fire Department. This dedication is evident at fundraising and other social events.
