Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)
In line with the theme of this website, “Fire Prevention”, we feel that all installed wood burning appliances, should be inspected by a trained WETT certified professional.
WETT certification is not a simple matter. There are (3) core courses that must be studied successfully, they include:
- Wood burning systems with a focus on heating system designs and problems, with attention to areas like the fireplace insert, chimney liner and factory built fireplaces.
- Chimney sweeping techniques and the roles & responsibilities of chimney sweeps. Content areas include, oil & gas systems, potential hazards & risk prevention, masonry chimney repair and sweeping tools.
- Basic inspection covers the limitations and challenges of performing visual inspection services. Techniques and tools are also studied for such applications like factory built fireplace inspection points.
In the Township of Athens, Bob Allingham is your Certified WETT Inspector. Here is a copy of a letter from the WETT Inc., confirming that Bob Allingham is an active member.
